Question about hair extensions that fall out

Getting hair extensions can be a big task. There are many different types of hair extensions and methods for attaching them. See letter to the Editor below about specifics of getting hair extensions.

Questions for the Editor:
When extensions are guaranteed, are fallen extensions reattached at no charge, or are you expected to pay for the hair again.? Please let me know what is typical or most common.

Managing Editor Response:
These are very good questions that you are asking. There is nothing worse than paying thousands of dollars for extensions and having to go back and have to pay to re-attach any that have fallen.

If your extensions fall out, you should definitely try to save them so that the stylist can just re-attach them, and not have to use more extension hair. If you don't save the fallen extensions, you will probably have to pay for more hair.

Most reputable extension stylists will offer so many re-attached hair extensions as a part of the fee you pay for the extensions. It is normal to have a few extensions fall out.

Long Hair in Style Next Year

The hairstyle fashion forecasters for next year predict that long, layered hair styles will be back in style full force. Long layers, along with lots of bangs will be the style.

Many women that went for the shorter bob hairstyle that were very popular this year will now be going to the salon to get hair extensions for that instant long gorgeous hairstyle. So if you have been waiting to get hair extensions, now would be the perfect time to extend. Some salons might be having holiday specials on extensions.

Another great idea is to tell everyone that you are saving up for hair extensions and ask them to buy you gift cards at your salon. This is a great way to stack up money for your beautiful hair extensions.

Don't forget to do your research on hair extensions first. Not everyone is suitable for hair extensions. Take the Hair extensions Suitability Test to see if you are suitable. Don't forget to redeem the valuable coupon at the end of the test!

Question about Finding a Hair Extensions Salon

When you decide you want to get hair extensions you will need to find a hair salon that offers hair extension services. Sometimes this can be a difficult task. At HairResources.com we offer a complimentary service for helping to locate hair extension salons.

Below is a letter to the editor that we received, with our response listed.

Question: I am going on vacation in a few weeks and I want to see about scheduling a hair extension appointment while I'm gone. Can you recommend any hair extension salons? Also how much do they cost and how long will they last?

Answer: We can try to locate a hair extension salon for you near your vacation spot. You will
need to send the zip or postal code and city name. We do not handle making appointments at salons, but we can refer you to several hair extension salons so that you can set up a consultation.

Hair extensions can range from $800 - $5000 and more, depending on the quality of human hair that is used and the method that is used to attach the extensions. Hair extensions can last anywhere from 2-6 months--again depends on the method and hair. You will need to go back for maintenance visits and for removal/reapplication, so it is better to select a hair extension salon that is close to where you live. Also, sometimes a few extensions fall out and you may need to have them re-attached.

You should not rush into getting hair extensions. We recommend in our Ebook, Hair Extensions Exposed, that you schedule 2-3 hair extension consultations at several different places to get an idea of what type of extension would be best for your type of hair and your budget. Always read
carefully all the fine print in any contract that a salon requires you to sign for hair extension services. Things can go wrong with hair extensions and you need to know upfront how things will be handled if they
do.

Clip In Hair Extensions

Permanent hair extensions can be a little pricey. If you are really considering getting them, you might want to start out with the clip in version. Quality clip in hair extensions can last several years and have the great feature of being clippin in and out whenever you want.

There are many online stores that sell clip in hair extensions. Be sure to check out what type of hair is being used for the extensions. Cheaper hair will tend to matte and tangle easily. It is better to go with a more quality clip in so that you can wear it much longer.

Finding a hair extensions stylist

Once you have made the decision to get hair extensions, you must start looking for a stylist that has experience with extensions. The experience of the stylist is very important to the outcome of your hair extensions. Most damage to the hair occurs during the removal of the extensions.

You should definitely spend some time looking for a stylist and researching his or her qualifications before signing any sort of agreement. Since hair extensions are still a relatively new service, most salons and stylists will make you sign something that pretty much says if anything goes wrong (like all your hair falls out) that they are not responsible.

In some cases you won't know how your hair handles hair extensions until they are attached. You could have perfectly healthy hair before extensions and perfectly damaged hair after.

Here are a few tips for finding the right stylist.

1. Go with recommendations. If you know of someone who has extensions, schedule a consulation with his or her stylist.

2. Search the Global Hair Resources Directory located at www.hairresources.com/salons.asp
and http://www.hairresources.net/salons.htm

3. Call all the major salons in your area and ask if they offer hair extensions. Then check out the salon online by typing the name in the search engine box.

4. Check with the better business bureau in your area to see if any complaints have been filed against the salon.

It is recommended that you schedule 2-4 hair extensions consulations so that you can compare the methods and prices for the service. Visit Hair Extensions Exposed for more details on finding a salon

Getting Hair Extensions? Which method will you choose?

A lot of the hair extension methods have been designed for specific hair, i.e. damaged hair, thinning hair, thick hair, etc. By doing your research and checking out the stylist you will be more likely to have a positive experience and minimize the possibility of damaged hair.

What is the difference between a weave and hair extensions?

When you start looking into getting hair extensions, you may run into salons that offer weaves.

A weave is when all of your natural hair is braided. Then the stylists will take a hook and needle and sew in the hair extensions into the braid.

The service can be a little pricey--around $500 or more--depending on the quality of extensions that you get.

There are disadvantages to getting a weave. Typically a weave will last anywhere from 6-10 weeks, usually a little bit less than other types of extensions. Also, if you don't go with an experienced hair stylist, your braids could be done to tight on your head. Overly tight braids can contribute to scalp soreness, itchiness and even permanent hair loss. The stress of the hair pulling too much on the scalp can cause the natural hair to fall out at the roots.

If you have ever worn your hair in braids, it can take some getting used to. I know that I experience itchiness even when the braids are not too tight.

But the weave is viable option for getting long hair and one big advantage is that it does not use any sort of chemical or adhesive--which in the end will be better for your hair.

Where do you find a hair extension salon

If you are thinking about getting hair extensions, you may be wondering where you find a hair extension stylist. There are many different options to finding a hair stylist.

1. Ask someone who recently got hair extensions. This is a great way to find a stylist, since someone who is not happy with their extensions will not recommend the stylist to anyone else.

2. Search online. There are many hair extension salons that have websites now. If you search for the terms 'hair extensions' and 'your city name', you will probably find a salon close to you.

3. Research the hair extension methods first and then call the hair extension company directly to find a certified stylist in your area.

It always recommended that you set up several hair extension consultations so that you can compare methods and costs. More hair extensions info

Hair extensions falling out with hair attached

Question: Hello! I got a full head of extensions not too long ago and I have had nothing but compliments about them.

I would like to know if anyone has a problem like I have had. My extensions have totally fallen out with my own hair attached to them . I have lost about 12 of them so far.

It's like my own hair has rejected the extensions.

Please advise me what to do

Answer: I would be very concerned if your natural hair was falling out along with the hair extensions. It is very normal to lose a few extensions here and there, but it is a totally different thing if your natural hair is also falling out with the extensions still attached.
Basically what this means is the hair extensions are causing so much stress on your normal hair that the weight of the hair extension is pulling out your natural hair. This is not your hair rejecting the extensions. You could end up with permanent hair loss.

Have you checked back with the stylist that put the extensions in? What has he/she recommended? Most stylist would recommend removing the extensions immediately.

If I were you, I would get a second professional opinion if your stylist doesn't think there is any problem. You are running the risk of permanent damage.

If you love the look of hair extensions, there are alternatives to the human hair extensions. For example, synthetic hair extensions weigh about 1/3 the weight of human hair and look just as natural as human hair. Maybe this would be a route for you to go.

Long hair the easy way

Do you love the look of long hair? Now there is a quick way to get long hair and it DOESN'T involve letting your hair grow for years.

It is called HAIR EXTENSIONS. Hair extensions is a very trendy service that is becoming much more affordable as many different companies develop new products and systems for attaching th hair.

Basically, hair extensions involve attaching long hair (either human or synthetic) directly to your natural hair using one of many different methods. The method you select should depend on your hair type, budget and specific recommendations from a qualified and trained hair extension stylist.

Even though the prices have come down quite a bit over the years, hair extensions can still be a little pricey. Average costs for a full head of extensions can range from $500 to $5000 and even higher. Pricing is directly related to quality and experience.
