Should kids get hair extensions?

I recently read that Kate Moss allowed her 4-year old daughter to get hair extensions. The pre-schooler now has long blonde hair all the way to her waist. I have to say I am a little shocked. But then I think, why am I shocked?

I guess the primary thought that I have is Why are we so keen on having our kids grow up so fast? What's the hurry? You can only be a kid for so long, then it is gone. Then there are adults who go back and try to act like kids. Just doesn't make sense to me.

When I was in school, I couldn't wait to get out and get my own job--make my own money. Now that I have done that, my thoughts are --what was the big hurry.

So, what do you think about Kate Moss's 4-year old daughter getting hair extensions? Leave your comments below.

Hair extensions for your wedding?

You have the perfect wedding dress picked out, all of the party details in place and now you are trying to decide on how you will wear your hair.

If you love the look of a long beautiful hair style for your wedding, but you only have medium or short hair, then you may be in luck.

Hair extensions are very popular today and offer the flexibility of getting long hair in just a few hours. Human or synthetic hair is attached to your natural hair by one of many different methods for a free-flowing look.

For best results, you should plan to get hair extensions several weeks before your wedding to make sure everything turns out okay. Sometimes the hair extensions can fall out or cause major matteing and tangling---if the extensions are not attached properly and if cheap, inferior quality hair is used---so you wouln't want any suprises like that just before your wedding.

Finding a Hair Extensions Stylist

So, you want to get hair extensions and you haven't a clue where to start. Well, first you need to decide on a specific hair extension method. There are many to choose from and each has distinct advantages and disadvantages that you must consider.

After you have decided on a method, you will need to find a salon that offers that method and preferrably one that is close to you. Don't get me wrong, you can drive hours to a salon that offers hair extensions. But, what if you have something go wrong or you need to go for maintenance visits often, then you may not like that 1-4 hour drive each way each time. Sometimes you may not have a choice as there are no qualified hair extensions stylist that work close to where you live.

A great place to start is with the hair extension company method. Call the company directly to find out if there are any qualified stylist in your area. This will eliminate one additional step later that recommends you verify the stylist is certified and trained by the company. The company will not recommend any stylist who is not properly trained or one who has been de-certified for some reason.

Since hair extension services can generate a large amount of revenue for a stylist, there is the incentive to just fudge things a little bit--especially when you may be earning thousands of dollars.

Sore Scalp after Getting Hair Extensions

Letter to the Editor:
I just had hair extensions put in and love them so far. I doing more research and found your great website. I want to buy one of the on-line books, but am not sure which of the two that apply to me to get. I am concerned about care and maintenance at this point more than anything. However, I would like to learn more about how they were applied as well. I am wondering why it was so uncomfortable when they were applied. The Great Lengths system was used on me. My scalp was sore for a few days. Is this normal?

Answer:
Both of the Ebooks, 2005's Most Popular Hair Extensions and Hair Extensions-The Official Consumers Guide to Getting Hair Extensions have care and maintenance tips for hair extensions. The tips encompass all the different methods available today. Some methods will have special care instructions that you hair stylist should be telling you about. Our tips are more general in nature, a compilation from many different extension hair stylists and hair extension companies.

Both books also contain the details of 27 different hair extension methods. The most recent details are in the Hair Extensions-The Official Consumers Guide to Getting Hair Extensions, along with several before and after photos. The Ebook, Hair Extensions Exposed is the most complete of all our Hair Extensions Book. It contains details on over 37 different hair extension methods along with a large Bonus Before/After hair extension photo gallery, a Hair Extension Comparison Chart and a Hair Extension Suitability Test. It is available at http://www.hairextensionsexposed.com

As to your Great Lengths extensions application issue, no application of extensions should hurt. You say "uncomfortable", and that your scalp was sore for a few days. I am not sure that this should be the case with these types of extensions. I do know, from my extensive research on hair extensions that the application of the hair extensions should not hurt you in any way. If it does hurt, then they may not be applied correctly. A specific method that I know this refers to is the braiding method, where your natural hair is braided and the extensions are sewn into the braid. If the braids are done too tightly, you will have a very sore scalp and possible hair loss issues down the road.

I can understand the scalp being a little sore, but from the added weight of the extension hair not from the application procedure. Human hair is very heavy.

Did you verify that your hair stylist was a certified Great Lengths Stylist?
